Small rare blown Oval Blown Glass sailors Diorama

Late 19th century diorama in blown glass vessel depicting a French prisoner of war, seated on a stool beside a bench,with a bone model of a ship. A pair of manacles hangs on the wall, a ball and chain is clamped to his foot, and a large rat keeps him company.l Made of bone, wood, metal, cloth,leather , straw and pigment. Note, jeweler and watchmakers in Ghent were conscripted by Napoleon to serve in his war with England. They were captured and imprisoned by the British. They passed the time by carving intricately detailed ship models and dioramas out of bones left from their meals or what ever wood they found. This diorama measures 6 inches high.

Blue Bird watercolor signed artist "Guy Lipscombe" c1930 to 1939. Guy Lipscombe is well known for his depiction of the "Blue Bird" a Dusenberg that was a famous racing car. This wonderful painting depicts the Blue Bird passing a train in this distance proving its capability of great speed. The artists execution of real life racing drama in this piece is as good as it gets. Notice the drivers facial expression along with the action of the wheels of the car and the smoke coming from the train as it speeds across the country side.This rare and vintage combination of watercolor and gouache painting measures 20 and one half inches high and is 26 and one half inches wide, outside of the frame. The image of this antique watercolor measures 20 and one quarter inches wide and is 14 inches high. Signed Guy Lipscombe lower right. Guy Lipscombe is referenced in"Art and the Automobile" by D.B. Tubbs Published by Brosset and Dunlap NY c1978. Guy Lipscombe was one of the earliest motoring artists. Born circa 1883. He took charge of the art department for The Motor magazine in about 1903. He was the first to paint cars on the Brooklands banking. He made some dramatic posters for insurance companies, showing racing cars on a collision course with the viewer at a range of a couple of yards. Guy Lipscombe became a world famous illustrator and his work now hangs in every important Automobile Museum in the world

This fantastic 1949 New York Yankees felt base ball pennant lists the roster for that year. It was Casey Stengel's first year managing the team as he came on board in late October,1948. Some very famous baseball names are listed. Under Stengel, the team went on to win the World Series in 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, and 1953 An amazing 5 year streak. The blue and white pennant is in excellent condition with NO pin holes. Measures 29" by 11". tassels are original and intact. This rare pennant would be a premier addition to any baseball collection. Names on the pennant are Stengel Dimaggio Keller Woodling Henrich Mapes Shea Bauer Berra Silvera Niarhos Kryhoski Coleman Rizzuto Johnson Stirnweiss Page Phillips Brown Reynolds Lopat Porterfield Raschi Sanford Byrne.
